As the year 2008 is coming to a close, we thought it would make a fitting micro site, to have a look at the programming languages used throughout the year, and how they fit into the modern day development life cycle.

All programming languages were candidates from markup and stylesheet to declarative, procedural, and functional. Those programming languages that had the most impact on the way through 2008, or that struck a particular chord, are in our top 10 list.

Some languages were used, but didn't quite make the top 10, to them we salute you, but alas cannot honour you in 2008.
