Python rocks! If a developer was allowed to pick the first language they came in contact with the hindsight of having used most, Python would win the poll hands down.

Python makes for a great rapid prototyping and deployment and control language. The syntax is clean and indentation is enforced. On the face of it Python looks procedural, but rapdily developers discover it is objects all the way down.

Those used to writing pseudo code have pretty much replaced that with Python, and can see immediately if an algorithm works or not. A new version of Python is on the horizon that is not going to be 100% backwards compatible, and for that bold move we stand behind Python, a language brave enough to keep on reinventing itself.

Python's one way of doing something is a blessing that many of us enjoy, and the rich diversity of python modules and tools, make it a great langauge to have command over.
